Official pages and program documents

Each listing is built from the funder’s official program page and relevant public documents, including guidelines, application guides and forms. Source URLs remain linked to the program so requirements can be checked at their origin.

A refresh engine that tracks changes

The helloDarwin refresh engine revisits tracked sources on a priority-based schedule, stores new snapshots and compares them with earlier versions. When it detects a meaningful change, it refreshes the affected program status, deadlines, funding terms, eligibility or application steps.

How program status is determined

Open means the current intake accepts applications. Opening soon means an intake is scheduled within the next month; closing soon means the current intake is scheduled to end within the next month. Closed means no active or near-term intake is listed.

Directory guidance, official rules

Directory filters and Funding Explorer help compare and shortlist programs; they do not confirm eligibility or approval. The funding organization’s current page and program documents remain the final authority for deadlines, available funding and application requirements.

Frequently asked questions

These answers explain how to navigate the directory and interpret its listings. Eligibility and program details should always be confirmed with the official funding organization.

What is the difference between the funding directory, program pages and funding-organization pages?

The funding directory is for discovery: browse opportunities by province, funding type, project, industry or audience. Program pages explain one specific opportunity, while funding-organization pages group programs offered by a government department, agency or other funder. Start with the directory if you do not know a program’s name; use a program page when evaluating a known opportunity.

Where should I start if my business fits several funding categories?

Start with the location where the project will take place, because province or region can be a determining eligibility condition. Then narrow the search by project objective and funding type, followed by industry, legal structure and audience. These categories guide your search; they are not eligibility decisions.

Why can the same funding program appear in more than one directory?

Many programs support multiple industries, audiences, projects or regions. A program may therefore appear along several relevant browsing paths without representing a different opportunity. Each path leads to the same underlying program and official eligibility rules.

Does finding a program here mean my business is eligible?

No. Directory placement and Funding Explorer ranking indicate potential relevance, not confirmed eligibility or approval. Verify the applicant type, location, eligible costs, project dates, funding-stacking rules and current intake status before committing expenses.

How should a business operating in several provinces search for funding?

Review the national directory and each province where the business or project has eligible operations. Some programs consider the head office; others assess the facility, project location, job creation or expected benefits. Follow the program’s official eligibility language rather than assuming one provincial listing applies everywhere.

What should I do if a helloDarwin program page differs from the funder’s website?

Use the official funder page as the source of truth, especially for application status, deadlines, funding amounts and eligibility. Program details can change between directory updates, so review the linked official page and current program documents before applying or committing expenses.
